Every campaign is a mitigation scenario from the Front Range model, linked live through the scenarios API. Ranked best-first by feasibility-weighted value per dollar (value × likelihood of success ÷ cost) — each needs time to raise (lead time) and time to adopt (rollout), so value accrues only as each comes online.

The dashboard is how we prove it: trends over snapshots, normalized per flight hour wherever possible, with raw counts available. Where data is still ahead of us, we say so and show the plan. Honesty about the data we have yet to gather is the brand.

Air traffic over Boulder is testing residents, creating tension with airports and pilots, but solutions remain elusive.
"For too long, folks in Boulder and Broomfield County have suffered from excessive undue noise pollution while also worrying about the consequences of leaded fuel on their health and well-being."

"Noise and lead bother me. What is anyone doing about it?"
"We fund the institute that measures it and publishes the trend, per flight hour, openly. Here's the dashboard, and here's how to file and track a report."
{{ t.give }}
Open campaigns, with progress in the open. Give once, or join as a recurring supporter.

Residents report what they hear, neighbors can host instruments, and supporters fund the work.

FRISA is a Colorado nonprofit corporation; 501(c)(3) status in formation. A written acknowledgment is issued for every contribution.
A flagship feature in its own right. Our dedicated noise reporting tool logs your report, issues a tracking ID, and feeds the median response time we publish here.
During baseline we reply within 3 business days; the median response time publishes here from Q3 2026.
Thank you. You're on the list. The first quarterly trend post lands when the data does.

Peer-oriented by design: the data is public, the methods are documented, and the questions are shared. We publish what we find, and we invite others to test it.
The portal opens the whole institute to view: the open book of research, the publication pipeline, the underlying data, and how participants are designated. Browse the work in progress, read preprints and their review records, and pull the datasets.
Research areas and open RFPs, proposals, collaborators, the grant pipeline, and papers underway.
Preprints through each stage, with public review and accountable oversight.
Public datasets and reproducible artifacts behind the work.
How participants are designated, shown transparently.
{{ q.q }}
A summary of the open-science pipeline and current preprints — the full list, each paper's stage, and the public review & oversight live on the publications page.
The papers below are open preprints: posted openly, each carrying a completed transparent internal adversarial review (a structured red-team of FRISA-internal agents — not a substitute for independent external peer review). Pre-registration — locking a plan before results — applies to new work and to the genuine before-results artifacts (the Monte Carlo and FOQA studies on the data portal). Stage is tracked in the public pipeline (/api/papers).
We welcome visiting researchers and student collaborators across the full breadth of sustainable aviation, from its acoustics and propulsion to its human dimension: the formation of student pilots, and the response of pilots and communities to voluntary noise-abatement procedures. Our instruments, our datasets, and the airfield itself are available to support that scholarship.
Propose a collaboration →To promote Boulder Municipal Airport and the Front Range as a model for measurable improvements in sustainable aviation by reducing noise, lead, and CO₂ for each certified pilot.
A Boulder Municipal Airport that proves aviation and its neighbors can thrive together: every flight hour delivering more outcome for measurably lighter impact, and a model other airfields choose to follow.
We report aviation outcomes ÷ impact. Outcomes are pilots qualified, ratings earned, patients flown, fires fought, research advanced. Impact is noise, lead, and climate. As the ratio rises, the field delivers more outcome for each unit of impact, and every number links to how it was measured.
